Is the STG-44 coming back in the meta? Best loadouts, stats and more!

STG-44 was for a long time the absolute meta and the favorite choice of the community! After several nerfs, people moved on to the NZ41 and now the KG M40. Well with all recent nerfs and the STG-44 untouched, it’s now coming back into the meta quite naturally.

In this article we will compare the STG stats with the ones from KG M40 and you’ll see that the STG has nothing to envy to the absolute meta KG M40. During the entire article, we will compare the KG m40 with two versions of the STG: first one using the 60 mag, second one using the Gorenko 50 .

Average Time To Kill: STG-44 vs KG M40

Average time to kill is clearly on the STG-44‘s side! More range with first damage drop off at 39 meters against 33 meters for the KG M40.

As expected, the 60 mag has the best time to kill, but the recoil can be hard to control. However the Gorenko 50 has an easy recoil to control, and the average time to kill is similar to the KG except a way better damage range!

Average Down Per Mag

For this stats, the 60 mag is dominating the trio. Then we can agree on the fact that the KG M40 is performing better than the STG 50 Gorenko mag. At range of more than 40 meters, you’ll be able to down on average almost 1 enemy more than the STG-44 50 Gorenko with the KG M40.

Mobility

Movement Speed

It’s interesting to note that is you use the VDD 34S Weighted stock on the STG-44, you’ll get better movement speed than with the VDD 27 precision. With the weighted stock and the 60 magazine you’ll get exactly the same movement speed as the KG M40 when it comes to moving.

However, if you use the Gorenko 50 on the STG, you’ll get a really good movement speed!

ADS Time

The statistic that i see the most complains about for the KG M40. The ADS time (time to aim) is super slow on the KG and and this is the reason feel like it’s a very heavy gun. You will not have this feeling with the STG-44.

1. STG-44 ads time is 305ms with 50 round mag
2. STG-44 ads time is 357ms with 60 round mag
3. KG M40 ads time is 495ms

Reload Time

There is almost 1 second of difference in the reload time between the KG m40 and the STG-44. This is compensating for the fact that the KG has a better avg down per mag than the STG 50 Gorenko.

The fast reload time on the STG is mostly due to the fact we use Sleight of Hand as there is no recoil perk on this weapon.

1. STG-44 reload time is 2.55s with both 50 round and 60 mag
2. KG M40 reload time is 3.63s

Bullet Velocity

This is a super important statistic to look at when it comes to long range meta. The bullet velocity is what will give you the feeling of hitting all your shots and that a gun is truly powerful.

1. KG M40 muzzle velocity is 1550.3m/s
2. STG-44 muzzle velocity is 1464.5m/s

KG M40 has a better bullet velocity yes. However let’s be clear: 1464 M/S on the STG is already insanely good! If you look at fan favorite gun like the Cooper, you’ll find a muzzle velocity of 1192m/s for example.

Recoil

Final stats and what is determining if a gun can be in the absolute meta category. Low recoil will mean that anyone can use it, even casuals.

KG M40 has less recoil than the STG-44, even with the 50 Gorenko mag. It will be easier to control for the common player, but the STG is also quite easy to be honest. This will come down to preference of the player, but in my case, i have absolutely no issue controlling the recoil of the STG, like you can see here:

Final thoughts on the STG-44 vs KG M40

We can see through the article that the answer is not obvious for the KG M40 even if it’s considered the current absolute meta. The bullet velocity and the low recoil is what’s making the KG M40 the best for Caldera and even if the STG-44 is better in all other stats, i don’t think it’s enough to 100% take the crown for the casual player.

However if you are a skilled player, then the recoil of the STG will be also easy to manage, and this means that for the experienced amongst you, the STG-44 might be the best gun to use. The overall mobility is also so much satisfying on the STG-44 versus the KG M40 that feels slow, almost like an LMG.
