What to Expect From Modern Warfare 4
Modern Warfare 4 is now close enough to release that much of the game's core structure is officially confirmed.
The game launches on October 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. PS4 and Xbox One are not supported, marking a clear move toward current-generation hardware. Campaign Early Access begins one week earlier on October 16 for eligible digital purchases.
The Campaign begins with a major conflict on the Korean Peninsula while also bringing Captain Price back into the story. Confirmed missions and scenarios extend beyond Korea to New York, Paris, Mumbai and other occupied areas.
Multiplayer launches with 12 all-new Core 6v6 maps, a broader collection of Gunfight and large-scale combat environments, and modes ranging from Team Deathmatch and Search & Destroy to new options including Inflation, Hijack and Counter Attack.
Infinity Ward has also confirmed a substantial Create-a-Class system featuring 33 weapons, more than 500 standard attachments and 28 Apex Attachments. Gunsmith returns, while Gunny introduces an optional way to quickly generate recommended builds from unlocked attachments.
DMZ is also a major part of Modern Warfare 4 rather than a small side mode. Hajin provides the main Exclusion Zone, with Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, Side Ops, PvE enemies, rival human Operators and persistent progression.
For Warzone players, the most important transition starts with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1. Activision has confirmed that MW4 content and seasonal progression will integrate with Warzone, while Zodiac joins Resurgence and Hajin becomes a Battle Royale map.
What we still cannot determine is the future Warzone Meta.
Modern Warfare 4's Multiplayer Beta gives us useful information about weapon design and functionality, but it does not tell us which guns will become the Best Warzone Loadout options after integration. Those rankings require actual Warzone damage, range, recoil, mobility and balance data.
